SUIBE Professor Cai Yuyang recently published an article introducing his original theory of Island Ridge Curve (IRC) on SSRL SIG Newsletter, a periodical run by the American Educational Research Association (AERA), at the invitation of the latter. His article was recommended by the SSRL SIG Spring 2022 Newsletters as a focal study in the area of self-regulated learning.

The IRC is an educational psychology theory proposed by professor Cai Yuyang based on the learning performance of Chinese language learners. It has attracted the attention of the international educational community in just two years since it was raised, as it profoundly explains the complex development of language ability and other intellectual abilities of mankind. Centering on this topic, he has published three research papers in prestigious journals, one chapter paper, and one academic monograph in English. Four other relevant papers are under review.
