On November 2nd, SUIBE and Liaoning University (LNU) jointly held the first online seminar for young scholars of economic statistics themed “Enhancing Scientific Research Innovation Centered on Discipline Construction”. Young academics of economic statistics from both universities shared their experiences, which were later commented by experts from the two universities. Professor Wang Rongming, President of SUIBE, attended the seminar and delivered a speech.
President Wang pointed out that SUIBE and LNU attached great importance to the construction of the discipline and the training of young faculty members. The joint seminar was a rewarding attempt to contribute to the learning and exchange and cooperation between young teachers of the two universities. He hoped that the scholars of both sides would fully discuss and exchange ideas on the discipline construction, scientific research innovation, and application to make more and higher-quality academic achievements. He also hoped that both sides would further improve teaching with researches to better support the socio-economic development of China.
During the seminar, Li Peijin, Chairman of the Department of Economic Statistics of SUIBE, and Zhang Jiujun, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Data Science of LNU, introduced the characteristics of the two departments and the development of the discipline of economic statistics respectively. Nine young scholars from the two universities delivered academic reports on their latest research in economic statistics.
