SUIBE Holds Forum on Theoretical Frontiers and Judicial Practice of IPR Protection


On April 26th, a forum on the theoretical frontiers and judicial practice of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection was co-hostedbythe Intellectual Property Joint Research Institute in Shanghai,Songjiang District People's Court in Shanghai and the Law School of SUIBE at the SUIBE Gubei Campus. The forum was attended by more than 40 experts, scholars, teachers and students from Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, Shanghai High People's Court, Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, Songjiang District People's Court in Shanghai, Changning District People's Court in Shanghai, Tongji University, East China University of Political Science and Law, University of International Business and Economics, SUIBE and so on.



XuYonglin, SUIBE vice president, said in his speech that SUIEB has always been committed to serving national strategies and Shanghai’s economic and social development, and enjoys unique positionandadvantages in rule-making, decision-making and consulting, and training of talents for international organizations in the sphere of international economic and trade. With the continuous improvement of IPR protection system, there are increasing demands for overseas IPR dispute resolution and protection. Universities should strengthen communication and cooperation with the government and judicial organs, and combine theoretical research with judicial practice.




Chen Chang, dean of Songjiang District People's Court in Shanghai proposed in his speech to promote in-depth research on IPR theory, the application of IPR and the in-depth development of IPR education, and cultivate more professionals for IPR protection and application. He hoped that The Songjiang District People's Court and SUIBE would launch closer cooperation on integrating theoretical research and trial practice, draw theories from practiceand guide practice with theories, and strive to provide more solidjudicial support for regional economic and social development.




Focusing on the two themes of “theoretical frontiers and practice of IPR” and “judicial support for IPR”, experts and scholars shared their ideas about Shanghai's IPR development in 2022 as well as the cooperation between the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People’s Court of China and universities.
